SHINE is a partnership project between SilverHub Studios, Craigroyston Community High School and North Edinburgh Arts. Lead by contemporary Jeweller Lisa Arnott, this dynamic project aims to introduce young people and adults from Muirhouse to contemporary jewellery practice. To date the participants have developed skills in traditional jewellery design, including sawing, soldering and creating texture and surface, visited the Chris Ness Contemporary Goldsmith, the Scottish Gallery, the Open Eye Gallery to see their collections in contemporary jewellery design and the National Museum of Scotland to look at how different cultures have used jewellery to express their lives. Participants also spent an afternoon in SilverHub Studios and continued to work on their own designs and also met the resident professional jewellers at the Studio.
