Inspiring Lives Project

This artist led project took place within Craigroyston Community High School, Edinburgh.

Lisa successfully received lottery funding and coordinated the Inspiring Lives project. The project enabled young people to work with professional artists, in a series of projects including sculpture, jewellery design, painting, textiles. The art works created responded to the local achievements and culturally diversity of North Edinburgh. The students worked with the artists on a daily basis, and some returned to SilverHub Studios to further develop their jewellery making skills.

Artists involved in the project included:

Lisa Arnott

Lorna Brown

Steven Hood

Stevie

Comments from Teachers, Pupils and Parents with regards to the Inspiring Lives project:

'This really helped the Art department motivate and engage a wider ability range of students in the project and helped improve the focus of some students in class.'

'Whilst the artists were working with small groups on the project, at the change of periods, students often stopped and became engrossed in the work that was taking place. It had a very calming effect on students!'

'Is it really possible to study jewellery design at college? Can we make and sell our work?'

'My daughter came every week, every week!'
